Launching The Flight School

The world needs a new operating system; our next gen leaders do, too.

I graduated high school struck more by what I hadn’t learned than what I had.  I’d been a good student — heads down, checking boxes, collecting gold stars — but I was exhausted from the treadmill, disillusioned by classroom learning, and hungry to learn what school wouldn’t (and couldn’t) teach me.

Life has changed dramatically in the decades since I graduated — but our approach to school hasn’t.

✔ High school is still a high-stakes race to get into college.

✔ We still teach to tests, but now AI can pass them in seconds.

✔ We still require students to choose a major, before they’ve found their mission.

Our kids are disillusioned, distracted, and expected to navigate a new world with an education designed for a world that no longer exists. School still teaches kids to follow the leader. What if, instead, we taught them to fly?

Today, alongside my co-founder Chalon Bridges and a growing roster of world-class Advisors, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of The Flight School -- a for-purpose (aka non-profit) venture creating an accessible, aspirational, and rebellious rite of passage for our next-generation leaders.

Combining proven models with pioneering technologies, The Flight School is re-inventing the “gap year”, to ensure young adults everywhere find their people, their purpose and their power to drive change. If you believe in an education higher than higher ed, this is your invitation. It’s time to take flight. Will you join us?
