A moment I noticed my inner light kindled this month was:
When I completed my carving project. The process of transforming a thought into a physical thing was magical, and the final moment especially. Knowing that I didn't give up, that I could and I did. It showed me that my determination is real.

A moment I noticed my inner light dwindled this month was:
Stuck in between night buses in Santa Cruz de la Sierra with nothing to do, nowhere to go and very little energy. It was an empty day. It showed me the importance of having a place and a reason to be.

I originally assumed:
I used to think that art wasn't meant for me. That I had to dedicate my time to things that would give me more knowledge and that I was better at. I wasn't sure of the value of art, so I just presumed it to be useless.

These assumptions are changing:
Now I sense that I can't live fully without creating. And that that's exactly what art teaches. It also teaches me about myself. I want to embrace more and more creative practices to see what comes out of them.

A moment I stepped out of my comfort zone this month was:
While waiting for one of my buses, there was a little boy crying. I wanted to gift him a bracelet I had made but I was feeling very shy for some reason. After some minutes of preparing myself I turned to my left and gifted him my bracelet. He was still quite sad.

During one of the many thunderstorms while I was in the jungle, I asked myself "why not be the rain?". And so I put on my swim pants and just headed out.
Feeling the rain on my skin, all the jungle noises combined with those of the water droplets, the thunder far away. In my head this had combined with another moment when I went out to the jungle at night and just blended into the darkness. The moon, the trees, the noise. It surrounded me until I forgot I was me. I became one with the jungle.
The combination of these two moments made for an even more magical moment.

Art is magic!!! Magic is art!!!
Through a conversation with my host on the nature of imagination and art, this realization hit me. "Is magic real?" was one of the questions I considered of claiming as my animating question at the beginning of my Launch Year. And the universe has told me the answer! It gave me the chills.
Impromptu Quechua classes

I decided to sit down at the Plaza de Armas in Huaraz and just watch. That's when I met Victor and Mary, his niece. They were really happy to talk with me and me with them. Victor taught me some Quechua, and we shared lots of laughs as I struggled to pronounce correctly. I even learnt my first Quechua swearword! It was a magical moment filled with laughter and love.
