What have you been going through and experiencing?

I have been questioning what it means to be of mixed Asian heritage in Asia, and am experiencing situations that come through my ethnicity.

Intuition

Cultivating inner knowing

A question currently animating me about the inner life/spirit is:

How does ethnicity craft privilege in countries of recent colonial emancipation?

April 2, 2026

A question currently animating me about the outer world/universe/multiverse is:

How does the natural world influence placed based value?

The practices I’m finding most helpful at the moment are:

Rest

A moment I noticed my inner light kindled this month was:

Diving! Something that I had never tried before and fell absolutely in love with. I cannot wait to dive more in the future :)

April 2, 2026

A moment I noticed my inner light dwindled this month was:

While I loved the Philippines, I had a few very uncomfortable interactions with men, which shifted my perspective on the country and how I felt overall.

Courage

Aligning action

Assumptions I'm examining right now are:

Happiness

April 2, 2026

I originally assumed:

My happiness in intrinsically tied who I am around, and is dependent on my idea of community.

April 2, 2026

These assumptions are changing:

I have continuously found happiness in moments of solitude, showing me that ist can be a balanced practise.

A moment I stepped out of my comfort zone this month was:

Adventuring into the unknown and going off the beaten path! Deciding to forgo the traditional tourist route in favour of living in the jungle for a few days on Bohol island.

Compassion

Engaged Empathy

Something that is helping me build trusting relationships here is:

Openness!!

Number of days I've gone without technology

Being intentionally away from technology and distractions has taught me:

How fulfilled my life is when I’m in the mountains, rivers, and trees. The sensation of inner being and connection to the sacred when I’m present with Mother Earth.

Doug! It has been absolutely wonderful being able to get to know you more. Our conversations throughout the past couple of weeks have been so enriching and have really made me think more introspectively about my life, the world, and travel in general <3

New and Old Friends

Siquijor Island

Mar 17, 2026

Early on in my travels I met a girl called Annabelle. Her and I quickly became friends, and ended up travelling together for 3 weeks. When we were on Siquijor, we were visited by my very close friend Leopold (who I had met at Pearson College). It was so cool having my new, and old friends with me, and I was reminded how special, and enduring friendship is! On this particular day we went cliff jumping and it was just magical!

Magic.

Salar de Uyuni

Feeling welcomed by the world around me. 4500m above sea level, only myself and my travel companions were at this lake. Without access to wifi (or the world at large!) I felt truly present in the space I was existing in—both physically (the earth and mountains had let me inhibit this space) and mentally (I was at peace, without the buzz of the world beyond).
